September 7: The King's Love (Vol. 49, pp. 199-209)
The opening to an ancient Irish epic from the 12th century, "The Destruction of Da Derega's Hostel," is featured today. It is a familiar story, a warrior-king smitten with a beautiful woman, with troubles to follow.
I have been involved in broadcast, print and online media in New England for nearly three decades.
Currently, I am the chief editorial writer at the Brattleboro (Vt.) Reformer.
I have also been a regular contributor since 1996 to The American Reporter, the first online-only daily newspaper in America.
I am a 1983 graduate of the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and 1997 graduate of Harvard University's John F. Kennedy School of Government. I was also an infantry sergeant in the Massachusetts Army National Guard from 1981 until 1987.
