May 5: Strange Adventures in Man's Clothes (Vol. 26, pp. 7-21)
Spanish playwright Pedro de la Barca Calderon died this day in 1681, so we get the opening to his 1635 masterwork "Life is a Dream." Again, the drama of this era holds no interest for me.
I have been involved in broadcast, print and online media in New England for nearly three decades.
Currently, I am the chief editorial writer at the Brattleboro (Vt.) Reformer.
I have also been a regular contributor since 1996 to The American Reporter, the first online-only daily newspaper in America.
I am a 1983 graduate of the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and 1997 graduate of Harvard University's John F. Kennedy School of Government. I was also an infantry sergeant in the Massachusetts Army National Guard from 1981 until 1987.
