May 8: Behind the Screen in the School for Scandal (Vol. 18. pp. 164-176)
On this day in 1777, Richard Brinsley Sheridan's "School for Scandal" made its premiere. This 18th century comedy of manners was supposedly hot stuff in its time, but after a couple of centuries, it doesn't hold up too well.
I have been involved in broadcast, print and online media in New England for nearly three decades.

I am a 1983 graduate of the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and 1997 graduate of Harvard University's John F. Kennedy School of Government. I was also an infantry sergeant in the Massachusetts Army National Guard from 1981 until 1987.
